Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do I need to know the location of my utility lines?

It’s crucial to know where utility lines are located before digging anywhere on your property. Damage to the line or piping can occur and result in service disruptions, serious injury and expensive repairs.

  • Why is accreditation and certification important when choosing a utility locating provider?

A provider who has proper certification and accreditation will have the experience and knowledge of proper techniques, local council requirements and safety protocols.

  • How long does the appointment take?

Generally, appointments can take around an hour for a standard city home block. Larger sites can take longer.

  • Can’t I use the information from the town’s records to find utilities?

Many times, homeowners perform upgrades or repairs to their home. If the work done wasn’t completed according to council requirements, there may be unrecorded lines. It’s best to have all utilities located by a certified and accredited professional.

  • Do higher water tables or sites with clay soil affect the accuracy of the report?

Sometimes it can. That’s why it’s recommended to have an experienced, licensed and accredited professional locate your utility lines.
